In order to deepen mutual cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure development between the Prešov Self-Governing Region and the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, an expert conference was held at the beginning of this week in the Polish village of Pułanki, which was also attended by representatives of the Road Administration and Maintenance of the Prešov Self-Governing Region (SÚC PSK).
At the event, SÚC PSK and its Polish partner – the Road Administration of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Rzeszów presented the results of the joint project “Reconstruction of the transport connection in the districts of Svidník, Stropkov and Jaslo”, which was implemented through the cross-border cooperation program Interreg V-A PL-SK 2014-2020.
The main goal of the project was to increase cross-border transport mobility in the Slovakian-Polish border region, by improving the construction and technical condition of roads. The implementation of the given project also improved the comfort, safety, and fluidity of road users, as well as improved access and improved connection with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) on the Slovak side (roads D1, E371) and on the Polish side (roads DK 28, DK73, A4, S19).
Thanks to the participation of SÚC PSK in this project, in the districts of Svidník and Stropkov, it was possible to reconstruct a more than 7 km long section of road II/556 between the villages of Fijaš – Lomné.
Of the total financial value of the project, approx. 5.6 million €, the implementation of the reconstruction of the affected section on the Slovak side required more than 2.6 million. €.
